This wheelset is the perfect answer to the need for a wide rim profile, stiff and reliable All Mountain and Enduro wheelset. The Spank rims, armed with BeadBite and Oohbah technology, keeping the weight down and performance as high as it can go.

The Oohbah technology is a unique feature found on Spank rims and wheels. The central section of the rim is traditionally slightly curved or flat on most rims, but the Oohbah design features a wave-like pattern in the centre. The Oohbah feature in the centre of the rim adds exceptional strength and makes it more rigid, traits commonly only found in wheels that are much heavier. This structural benefit also allows Spank to make rims that are wider without having to add extra material, which would add weight to them.

The BeadBite technology has a serrated surface on the inside of the rim bead. This gives the tyre bead something to bite into, creating a tighter seal and reducing the chances of tyre burp when running a tubeless setup.

Spank Oozy Trail 345 Wheelset Review:

On the trail, the wheels are the perfect mix of weight, stiffness and durability. Despite their 135mm width, they feel very planted and are super stiff on straights. You can tilt them under heavy braking and still drive out of it without losing steering control.

The reliability is a clear advantage over aluminium rims. They mounted up a tubeless setup with a lot of sealant without any leaks or burps. I even ran them tubeless for the whole test period without having to top up the fluid.

The wheels are the perfect width for an All Mountain bike, giving you the confidence to lean them over super hard without squatting or feeling off-balance when coming out of it. The 35mm inner rim width gives you a wider platform to work with for your tyres, so you can climb any hill or boulder garden in your way.

At 2.3-2.4kg, they are not the lightest wheelset around, but they are light enough for most riders and especially impressive given their profile and the fact that they are Boost. And with a lifetime warranty, you can be sure that there will always be parts available and they’ll be looking great for a long time!

If you’re into riding technical trails, want the confidence to lean your bike over and push yourself to the limit and the weight is not an issue, then I’d highly recommend these wheels. They give you a lot more confidence to push your limits and they will be performing well long into the future.
