Jagwire Road Pro Brake Cable Kit Review:

At first glance, the Jagwire Road Pro looks like way too much for a beginner with minimal road experience. For example, the “Pro” is a far cry from the “Ergonomite” colored brake pads the Road Pro is sold with.

The Jagwire Road Pro takes the already useful road disc brakes with enhancements to their performance. Thus, the Road Pro kit comes as close to getting you fully “into” disc brakes as possible within your budget, no frills.

Let’s check out the brakes along with the Aftermarket Disc Kit to see how it performs…

Features:

  • Heavy-duty stainless steel braided outseal cable for a strong and durable brake performance
  • Stainless steel inner and outer cables
  • Adjustable Open-end clincher line extended by a stainless steel pin
  • Set of rear brake calipers with integrated brake levers/brake hose

Jagwire Road Pro Brake Cable Kit Review:

Features:

  • Stainless steel braided outseal cable for a strong and durable brake performance
  • Stainless steel inner and outer cables
  • At first glance, the Road Pro kit looks surprisingly smart. The Trak-Lok riser blocks most of the brake cable travel and the lug-guides keep it on a snug gauge-line.
  • A kit with a “stacking” rear brake caliper assembly is simple and intuitive. Some would even say, it is far more seamless than the exiting Shimano Rack-Lok is and appears to be a solid design.
  • The seatpost and handlebar struts that come with the kit integrate into the fork hinges of the brake assembly and are as simple to clean as the rest of the kit.

Features:

  • Heavy-duty stainless steel braided outseal cable for a strong and durable brake performance
  • Stainless steel inner and outer cables
  • Open-end chain stays to give you cleaner lines than normal seat stays
  • Set of rear brake calipers with integrated brake lever/brake hose
  • Mounting platform for both brake calipers and hose
  • Mounts Braking Lever/Brake Hose.
  • Shimano MTB Folding Handlebar and Seatpost Struts
  • Brake Brake lever Assembly is switchable to rear-steer or front-brake control system
  • Fit at the top tube of any size frame, fork tube and seat tube for precise installation
  • Stainless steel 4-bolt Clincher setup for easy disassembly
  • D-Rails set for added stiffness and control
  • Fold-over design for ergonomic fit (MTB frame)
  • SS XD Driver Brake Lever & Brake Hose

The Road Pro Disc Kit comes with an extremely advanced brake lever and an integrated brake hose and cable. The brake lever is a helpful addition to any road brake system and one of the best you an get for the money. With finely tuned arc-shaped fingertips, and an Ergo-grip-style lower hand, the Road Pro is a complete brake tool.

That said, the integrated brake hose and cable is a bit of a button-pusher. It is an investment of $27.95 (Regular Retail) and is as sleek as it seems. The brake hose provides full cable travel while the Road Pro integrates with the integrated brake hose. This smooth-running hose offers maximum cable routing during climbs, but also makes brake application all the more a hassle.

The brake lever itself is nicely designed. The leverage adjuster is a helper when airing up on a climb and when releasing the pressure of the brake lever pushes the levers back into their Factory Unit self-adjuster position. The lever is a super-flexible Pro level lever with a nice tight fit and the lever flex is only noticeable during the first few minutes of firwating.

The installation of the brake lever is really easy and takes a few minutes. It doesn’t appear that it will be a step-by-step process with the Road Pro Pro Brake and Disc Kit.
